July17, 2025 “Bring Home a Ribbon: Preparing Honey for Show”

Your honey is the best there is, right? Think it’s good enough to win a blue ribbon? This year the Bedford County Fair has expanded its honey show eligibility area to include Campbell County. So, if you are interested in showing off your honey, you will want to attend our July meeting. Ann Zudekoff, Master Beekeeper, honey judge, and winner of a multitude of ribbons for her honey and bee products will give the club a presentation on how to prepare your honey for show.

Spring Build up & Swarm Control

This month we will have a presentation from Wendill Witt of Goose Creek Beekeeping Supply. If time allows, Ann Zudekoff, PBA Educator will present on the Snelgrove Board and splits if time allows. Snelgrove boards are using in making splits in the springtime. Boards are placed above the old colony and below the new split. Foragers will remain with the old colony leaving the young in the top making the conditions perfect for requeening.
